DevDocs? - DevDocs, short for "Developers Documents", is a term I have used since 1995 as a folder name in all development projects. A folder named "devdocs" would contain all the original files and project management documents for a web site or project. The original full-size graphics before the web developer re-sized them for the web would be stored for example, so that they could be edited and used again. Original documents from Marketing would be stored for reference, as the message was usually shortened and bulletized for the web. It was a way of keeping all the files close together and easily accessible when a developer was working on multiple projects.
I still use this simple idea today as it fits right in with my motto that I follow today. Keep It Simple & Stable, a slight modification of the original KISS principle. Albert Einstein's maxim that "everything should be made as simple as possible, but no simpler", is the basis for this principle.
